Davie Detention Release Destinations
Davie County Detention Center is the Sheriff-operated adult jail in Mocksville. The Sheriff describes it as a medium-security, mainly pretrial facility. People there may be waiting for court, serving an eligible sentence, or held for another agency. A person can leave after posting bond, receiving another pretrial condition, a dismissal, time served, or sentence completion. Other departures are transfers. Those movements do not mean the person entered the community.
The official portal makes that distinction unusually important. Its Held For Agency choices include the Davie jail and Sheriff, the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, North Carolina Probation/Parole, INS, the U.S. Marshals Service, the State Misdemeanor Confinement Program, and outside counties. Read the Release Date with that agency field. If another custodian appears, follow that agency’s locator or records path before calling the event a release.
| Davie exit | Next confirmation |
|---|---|
| Bond or pretrial release | Jail release record and Davie criminal case |
| State transfer | NCDAC offender profile and movement fields |
| Federal hold | Federal docket, holding facility, BOP or USMS |
| Immigration pickup | ICE detainee locator and ICE contact |
Confirm Davie Detention Releases
The official Davie Sheriff inmate portal supports both Release Date and In Custody On searches. It is more useful than a live roster alone because a released row may remain searchable. The Sheriff does not state its refresh schedule or archive depth, so an absent result proves only that the portal did not return the person.
- Search the person’s full name and compare age, date of birth, booking details, and charges.
- Open the matching booking and record its booking or custody identifier.
- Read the Release Date and Held For Agency fields together.
- Call detention for the exact release type, time, and destination when the row is unclear.
- Check the Davie court case for the bond order, judgment, dismissal, or later disposition.
- Use NCDAC, ICE, BOP, or USMS channels if the record points to another custodian.
NC SAVAN/VINELink can provide a second status or event check for participating county records. It is useful for notification, but it does not replace the jail movement record or explain every destination. The broader Davie County released inmate search explains how the county, court, state, and federal checks fit together.
Davie Detention Release Records
The strongest county source is an existing booking, release, or custody-movement record. Ask for the booking date and time, release or movement date and time, release type, receiving agency or destination, Held For Agency notation, charges, bond data, and booking photograph if retained and public. A narrow request helps the custodian find the right record without asking staff to create a new report.
The Davie County public-record request procedure shows the official routing used for a focused request.
The county procedure supports requesting an existing movement record and asking for the nonexempt remainder when a field is withheld.
Davie County routes its online public-record requests through the County Attorney and then the department custodian. Legal review may remove protected content. The county policy gives internal response options within two business days, such as production, a time estimate, a no-record response, or legal review. That is not a promise of final delivery within two days.
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Booking number | Separates people and separate jail stays |
| Release or movement time | Records the physical exit event |
| Release type | Distinguishes bond, completion, dismissal, or transfer |
| Destination | Shows whether another agency took custody |
| Held For Agency | Identifies a non-Davie custody interest |
Chapter 132 permits inspection and copies of nonexempt public records, but investigative material and other protected records are treated differently. The county need not create a record that does not exist. If a field is withheld, ask for the legal basis and the nonexempt remainder. The published policy lists small actual-cost page charges and allows an approved special service charge for extensive work, so confirm the current cost before ordering.
Note: A phone answer may resolve current status quickly, but a written movement record gives a more durable account of the exit.
Davie Detention Center Contact
The official detention center page is the source for the preferred jail contact. It links to the current-inmate portal, pretrial release services, courts, NCDAC, and VINE. That set of links reflects the actual custody paths a Davie inquiry may require.
135 Green Street
Mocksville, NC 27028
Detention: 336-753-6647
Release-desk and public-record hours: not published
The Sheriff’s main office is at 132 Government Center Drive, Mocksville, NC 27028, and its main number is 336-751-6238. A Sheriff contacts page has displayed a conflicting detention number, but the jail page and a county quick-reference source support 336-753-6647. Use that preferred number and confirm the routing when calling.
No official page states the release-processing hours, public exit, family waiting place, weekend rule, or property pickup steps. Call before travel. Staff may also direct a records inquiry to the correct custodian.
Davie Jail History and Capacity
The physical jail has more history than the Sheriff page’s brief description suggests. A 2021 county planning document says an original portion dates to the 1930s and a substantial addition opened in 2001. This reconciles the older structure with the Sheriff’s shorthand that the center was built in 2001.
Classification and separation needs led the study to estimate fewer operational beds than the rated count. It proposed a replacement rated for 134 people with a 200-bed core on the same parcel, followed by demolition of the old facility. Current official sources reviewed for this project do not prove that proposal was completed. The Green Street identity remains the safe published description.
The study’s capacity figures are not annual release totals. Sheriff annual reports and jail planning data answer different questions, and neither should be converted into a release count without an extracted official figure.
Davie Release Property Questions
The detention page says original incoming letters are scanned and then placed in inmate property. That confirms the jail keeps a property system. It does not publish how or when property is returned after release, whether another person may collect it, or which exit staff use. Those practical details should come from detention before anyone travels to Green Street.
Ask whether identification is required, whether the person already received the property at departure, and how unclaimed property is handled. Do not assume a state prison’s release practices apply to this county jail. State and county custody are run by different agencies.
Note: The known property practice concerns incoming mail storage, not a published promise about the method or time of release pickup.
Davie Held-Agency Release Meaning
The Held For Agency field is a local clue with broad value. NCDAC means the state correction system may control the next movement. Probation/Parole may signal a supervision issue. INS points toward immigration custody, while USMS points toward federal pretrial or transport authority. An outside county or misdemeanor-confinement entry also changes the next search.
- Release
- An exit from one named custodian; it does not always mean freedom from all custody.
- Transfer
- A movement from Davie custody to another agency or facility.
- Detainer
- A request or notice that another authority may take custody.
- Discharge
- The end of a custody or supervision status, depending on the record.
When two sources disagree, keep the dates and labels exactly as shown and contact the office that created each record. A Release Date, court judgment date, SAVAN notice, and NCDAC Actual Release Date are not interchangeable. Match the booking number or offender number first, then compare the name, birth data, case, charge, and dates.
Finally, an arrest or booking record does not establish guilt. Court disposition provides the later legal result, while the jail record establishes the physical movement. Together, they give a far sounder account than roster absence alone.
